The un-failures of life. |
You are not a failure because the goals you had set for yourself are still farfetched. And just because someone else is living your dream, you are not a failure. You are always living someone else's. Think about it. |
You are not a failure just because you have not been able to get your finances, your home, relationships, or your career in order. What is the definition of 'order' anyway? Who created it? You or your rejections since childhood?
You are not a failure because you have to ask for help again and again. At least you ask, which means you still want better for yourself. Do you?
You are not a failure just because you are not honouring your talents. You will, soon. When the fear of failure will be a lot less than the fear of living an unfulfilled life.
You are not a failure just because you are not on anyone's invite list. Are you on yours is the deeper question.
You are not a failure just because you don't have people in your life who love you. Would you love you if you met you? And if the answer is no, that still doesn't make you a failure.
You are not a failure for having lost. You are not even a failure if you haven't ever won. You're certainly not a failure if loss and win doesn't affect you.
You are not a failure if you have not shown up today. You are never a failure if you have not lived up to your expectations or those of others. Have you shown up to show some gratitude today?
You are not a failure if you have been living a compulsive life, not a conscious one. You are not a failure if you can't trust others. When will you trust yourself deep inside is what you need to search.
You are not a failure if you have guilt and shame. You are not a failure if you regret something. What are you doing about it, ask yourself.
You are not a failure for not being the best friend, lover, bae or beau. Are you your best cheerleader?
You are not a failure because you have anger issues, you resent people, you feel the jealousy, envy. When will you send anger a friend request and allow it to hold your hand and lead you to you?
You're not a failure. You're human. You are a spiritual being having a human experience. You can't ever fail at being human.

The secret love affair of action and stillness. |
What happens when action and stillness, two completely contrasting entities, meet each other, fall in love and get into a relentless, lustful relationship with each other. When you can't separate one from the other and together, they play out the intimate dance of Purusha and Prakriti, of Shiva and Shakti.
On some days, you need action. The 'roll your sleeves up and get it done with' kind of action. The 'sweat on the brow and the sinewy arms being pushed to their limit' kind of action. The 'no time to breathe or to die' kind of action.
Some days, you need stillness. Not the 'let me be totally still in bed and let the day roll by' kind of stillness. The 'just be yourself' kind of stillness. A stillness that has the churning of the entire universe in it, yet it's changeless and quiet. The moment of presence when you are so present that you are lost in it. So lost that you find yourself. That moment when all the action is happening in the inaction.
But action without stillness is reactivity. Not a measured response, not the silence between the thoughts but an impulsive reaction to a trigger. It helps when you just need to get something off your chest, and you clear your table in one sweeping motion.
Stillness without action is giving up, a sort of defeated resignation. It is surrendering without being an active participant in your own life. It is about stepping into victimhood allowing your stories to run your script all over again. It is shifting the game to blame and not believing that you are the miracle and the magic.
Action surrendered to stillness is purpose. That is what makes life meaningful. It is showing up for what you've been created for but not trying to control the result or the reward. It is about unconditionally surrendering to the universe, showing up regardless, having faith that everything will happen as per divine plan and detaching yourself from the intended outcome of the action. It is about allowing action to co-create with the universe and letting stillness lead you to your inner voice and intuition, as the universe itself holds your hand and leads you to eternal, fulfilling joy.
