Never.                     We never make the second-best decision. Never. At any given point, we make the best decision to the best of our understanding of things in that present moment. It’s only in hindsight, when we see the complete picture, do we discover if the decision was the best, the second best or the only option we had at that time.           The decisions we make define our destiny and shape us into the people we are today. Decisions happen when we slap our conditioning and prejudices onto the thoughts that drop into our consciousness. The same thoughts on loop then become beliefs, which are followed by the same behaviours, leading to the same actions, which become habits and yield the same results and patterns in our lives that shape our destiny.           To change our destiny, we need to change the quality of our thoughts. And while we go through this journey, it helps to change our perspective on experiences and see them in a larger context.           An irreversible mistake that you made, which was probably the wisest decision you could have made at that time, could be the greatest lesson of your life.           A failure that left you stranded and frozen could be rewritten as the most important turning point in your life.           The ending of a relationship to which you gave everything could possibly have been the new beginning your life needed.           The success you experienced at a young age followed by a downhill slide can be reinterpreted as the finest lesson on the impermanence of life.           The experiences will happen. The experience of those experiences will happen. Our role is to keep making the best decisions from a space of love and to keep showing up for life as it unfolds day after day. And one day, after many years, when you take stock of all the experiences and see them from a new point of view that lacks self-pity but has an abundance of compassion, you’ll notice that every experience in your life has been a positive one, every decision the right decision and every outcome exactly as it was meant to be.           From this moment onward, slow down, check the quality of your thoughts, make another best decision—this time consciously—change your actions and rewrite your destiny.           This lifetime is meant to play. Make it your Leela.                     Be a contradiction. Be a paradox. Be a mystery. Be different things. On some days, be the hustler and on others, be the laid-back chair warmer. Create a business, flirt with many ideas. Rise up the ranks, but don’t become just a designation. Be the one who builds the new and also destroys the old. Love your shadows, love your light. Be a sprinter one day and on another, be a marathoner.           Experience the extremes before you find sanctuary in the middle path. Be a maximalist in some parts and a minimalist in others. Accept every essence of life without being tied down to just one. Enjoy the opposites and allow for the joy and sorrow, the happiness and pain, the grief and elation. For in trying to hold on to one forever, you move from surrender to strategy. We work hard to end our suffering and when we do find happiness, we work hard to keep it eternal. In the process, we lose the very purpose of life itself—to embrace it fully and allow, allow, allow.           On some days, live in a shark tank, on others, allow yourself to be one lost soul in a fishbowl. Be the drop in the ocean one day and be the ocean in the drop the day after. Be a peace lover and be the war maker. Be the one who wins the fight to write and the one who wins the right to fight for your freedom. Be a tiger on the prowl one day, be a golden retriever playing in the mud on another. Be the lover one day and allow yourself to be loved on other days. Be the giver and the receiver. Be the sage and the sergeant. Be the chaos and the simplicity. Be the one who questions and be the one who answers. Be the one who cannot be put in a box, but also be okay with being placed in a bucket for the world to make sense of your immensity. Be someone’s bucket list and be okay being on someone’s “f**k-it” list.           Don't play a character, because a character is bound by this and that, right and wrong, shoulds and should nots. Be the actor instead, playing every role as directed by the source, accepting every role to experience the wholeness of life, but not attached to any. Play life fully. Make it your leela. Find your state of sambhaav - equanimity as you toggle between inaction, action and stillness. There’s no duality.
