What if you treated life as God.

  mark

What if the idea of God as a mythological character doesn’t sail your boat anymore? What if the idea of God as an idol in a temple or an esoteric concept explained by gurus and priests doesn’t excite you anymore? What if you have come to a point in your life where the belief in an old man sitting in the clouds running a simulation that you are a part of is an obsolete, outdated program from which you need an exit plan? What if your faith is hanging by a thin thread and you need solid proof that God exists?

What if you treated life as God?

What if you gave life the respect, love, devotion and reverence you have for God? What if life were God in all its avatars, in all its magnificence, expansiveness, immensity and awesomeness? What if, starting right now, everything and everyone you come across you see as the divine creator standing in front of you?

What if you saw God in the parent at home who has sacrificed so much for you? What if you saw God in the child who has brought so much joy to your life? What if you saw God in the partner, friend, colleague, uncle, aunt, niece and nephew? What if the people who love you are God? What if the people who hurt you are also God?

What if you saw God paying you a visit in the tiny butterfly that pirouettes around your nose? What if it were God in the golden retriever who snuggled up with you last night, its snout in your armpit and its unconditional love in your being? What if you saw God in the sun cajoling a water droplet in a puddle to evaporate, climb onto a cloud and in this lifetime, live in an ocean? What if you saw God in the huge tree that just stands there on the sidewalk, smiling at you as you walk past?

What if the life circumstances are God? What if the joys, sorrows, pain, suffering and happiness are all God in varied forms coming into your life to help you experience life wholly? What if there is as much God in grief as there is in elation?

What if every emotion you feel is God? What if depression, despair and powerlessness are also God, helping you know and value the grandeur of empowerment, enthusiasm and eagerness, which are also God?

Life is God. The whole of it—not just one part of it, not just one tree but the whole of Mother Nature, not one butterfly but all living and non-living beings, not one emotion but everything that comes together to make life beautiful.

A life transformation program.

What lies between a lived life and an unlived life is your willingness to play.

Life is not about a nine-to-five workday, having a drink at home while watching
K-dramas and saas-bahu serials and going through the drudgery of another work week
to meet the weekend with open arms, drown it in pints of pale ale and then bid goodbye
to it on a Sunday evening with a closed, heavy heart, waiting for the next weekend. Throw in a vacation, a family wedding, a therapy session, a reunion and an appraisal and we believe that life is sorted. Ten years run by and the dreams we had in 2015 are being recycled for a decade.

Life is not meant to be taken seriously, brooding over an unlived life, but to be engaged thoroughly and lived fully. This glorious life happens when the fine line between work,
play and rest ceases to exist and they all blur together so you just can’t separate
one from another.

Life was not created for us to pour our love into things and circumstances that diminish
our purpose and extinguish our light. Life was created for us not as a directive but to be participative in nature. It is for us to create a life we want for ourselves from the raw materials and supplies of the universe—the elements, the senses, the sense objects,
the motor objects, the wisdom, the ego, nature and the divine consciousness itself.

Life is meant to be a divine creation shaped by our hands and hearts, not by the minds
of others. Work is meant to be play—of carving a path that reflects our deepest truth: joy and our infinite potential. It is about honouring our sacred purpose and not being a slave to the mind, working hard towards creating and protecting a self-image far different from our unconditioned self.

Wake up and see this beautiful life, this precious human life that has been given to you to experience your immensity, your magnificence and your expansiveness and not to waste it in hedonistic pursuits. Experience this beautiful life that is nothing less than a privilege—a life that calls upon you to come, play, roll in the mud of sorrows, blows, trials and tribulations and still find it within you to dust off the muck and rise again and again.
A life that wants you to expand your heart to others and serve the universe.

  Come, let’s play.
