  Issue #140

24 years Creativegarh

A newsletter from Creativegarh to help you live a life of passion, purpose and meaning.

You are little bits of everyone you have ever loved.

  mark

You still make tea like your ammi did: sugar first, then elaichi, tea dust later.

You still watch the same genre of movies that your first girlfriend introduced you to.
A song you still listen to reminds you of her from years ago and makes you teary-eyed.

You still emulate your favourite boss and how he would approach a problem.

You still wear your hair like Rachel from Friends because your roommate in college made
you do it.

You eat one fruit at 11 AM just like your father does. You still give sweet curd and almonds to your child before any exam, just like your mum did with you.

You still remember the names of the planets like your science teacher taught you: My Very Educated Mother Served Us Noodle Pasta. You still remember the Pythagorean Theorem as “Pandit Badri Prasad Har Har Bole.” You still correct your spellings as you remember the lessons of your English teacher: Remember ALICE, she said - C before E, L before I.

You wear a vest and shorts on Sundays like your Daadu did. You still do the morning prayers in the same order and with the same rituals as Nani did.

You still leave little bites of roti on the windowsill for the birds, just like your didi did. You still leave one light switched on at home when you go out of station to dissuade robbers, just like your parents did.

You still tell the same jokes as your roommate back in college. In fact, when both of you meet after years, you laugh the same way at the same jokes.

You still drape the saree just like your Bua taught you. You still make the knot in the tie like your father made it for you 40 years ago. You still tie your laces like he did.

You still make Maggi on lonely monsoon afternoons like your boyfriend did for you—soupy with a lot of ketchup. You still make rajma chawal like Mom taught you, but it never tastes like hers did. But you still don’t know any other way.

You still read the morning paper like your brother used to—sports page first,
then the supplement.

The universe has created a million miracles for you through others. Thank them for
showing up.

You are beautiful bits and pieces of everyone whom you’ve ever loved. Love more. You’ll love yourself more.

A life transformation program.

Living the spiritual life. A cheat code.

  mark

Waking up in the morning with gratitude is living a spiritual life. So is choosing not to get out of bed and giving your body some rest.

Having a mindful cup of coffee or choosing not to have caffeine all day is living a spiritual
life, too.

Wearing shoes for a run to keep your body in the flow is spiritual, too. So is walking barefoot to ground yourself.

Lifting weights in the gym or dropping the weight of expectation is living a spiritual
life as well.

Eating a well-balanced meal is spirituality; so is fasting to detox from the excess
of everything.

Showing up to honour your gifts, talents and purpose is a spiritual life as well. So is taking a day off to show up for your mental health.

Going on a journey to visit a new place is spirituality, too. So is taking a journey to visit the dark places within you.

An unconditional surrender to the universe is spirituality. So is being an active participant in co-creating a better life for yourself. Playing the roles in your life that you are meant to is spirituality, too. So is watching yourself as an audience playing those roles.

Not losing your cool and staying calm within the chaos is spirituality, too. So is losing your anger and then following the trail into yourself to know yourself.

Saying what needs to be said to find your peace is spirituality. So is sitting in silence. Reading a story that inspires you is as spiritual a practice as rewriting your story
to inspire yourself.

A full-body massage to get rid of the aches and pains is as much a spiritual practice as knowing how the need for an ego massage has pained you over the years.

Being childlike and spending time in nature is spirituality. So is knowing the nature of your own inner child and spending time with it.

Being kind to someone is spirituality; so is showing compassion and empathy. Forgiving is spirituality. So is asking for forgiveness.

A non-questionable acceptance of everything that happens is spirituality. So is not accepting the life that has been created by circumstances.

Living a mindful and aware life and being in the service of the universe is spirituality. And so is knowing that, in this moment, the universe is serving you.
