The happiest people are the ones who are slowing down, not going fast.

  mark

In a rushed world where we are expected to keep running on a never-ending treadmill, working the hamster wheel, manifesting the ideal life before everyone else, it’s a radical act and a rare gift to be able to slow down.

The happiest people have discovered this, ironically faster than everyone else, that always being on the move is not what life is about. Joy waits in stillness, waiting to be savoured
in delicate sips of presence rather than glugs of action. They don’t chase time, they savour it. They have learnt the incredible art of stealing time from time itself, of making a few hours magically appear for them out of nowhere, almost as if they have 30 hours in a day.

They sip their tea slowly, watch suns set and not sunsets, they give conversations their time and presence, they close their eyes to shut out the world not only to sleep but to view their inner world with love and compassion. Instead of trying to be everywhere, they choose to
be fully somewhere.

The happiest people are not running a sprint to beat records, for saving microseconds
doesn’t excite them anymore. They are running slow marathons, not to beat their records, but for the record of their own joy. They choose depth over pace, being over doing,
allowing over controlling.

The happiest people are not glorifying busyness. What troubles them the most is to see everyone hustling and trying too hard. They know that busyness is a serial killer. It kills the inner child before it kills the spirit. They have learnt to prioritise presence over productivity, wonder over reward, joy over pleasure. They know that being slow is not being lazy, but
a way to be friends with themselves. They don’t live in calendars and invites and meeting rooms. They live in breathing rooms, where they make room for reflection, creation
and connection.

They respond, not react. They slow down to create a pause between trigger and response, between chaos and choice.

They live with the rhythm of nature. Like an acorn, they are in no rush to become an oak. They bloom in time and live with the wisdom of the ancestors that when a tree falls, everyone hears the sound, but when a tree grows, no one hears it. They know that life takes time to become life. Aliveness is a process, a pilgrimage, not a destination.

Slow down. For only when you go slow, do you get home faster.

In healing, failure is a myth.

  mark

Our healing journey is a part of a divine dance – a cosmic-sized choreography arranged
in intricate detail by the divine himself.

In this dance, some days you take three steps forward and on some, two steps backward. That’s also how healing happens and it’s all part of a divine rhythm. You are not out of step at all and every time you feel broken and out of alignment, you are actually being put together as some delirious dots of your life come together as delicious, mouth-watering insights from your own life.

In healing, failure is a myth. Some days you may feel that you have made a breakthrough and then a trigger breaks you down to humble you on your path. A breakdown is a breakthrough in disguise that opens a new door for you to walk through. What you need then is not more self-hate – no reprimanding yourself, no calling yourself names – but meeting yourself in a safe space with a cup of green tea, a warm, tight self-hug, lots of
self-compassion and all forms of judgement left outside the door.

And just because you have fallen once doesn’t mean you have fallen behind. You are not starting over from zero but you are starting from a deeper awareness, from experience, from a lived insight. So cut yourself some slack, show up again in your authenticity and join the dance of life, not tentatively swirling at the edges but leading the show from the centre.

Healing is not linear. It’s a spiral, a dance that brings you to the same point many times – many experiences leading to the same wound – and when the healing of that wound happens, a surprise test comes in when you least expect it, just to see if you have learnt your lessons.
