You always have a choice.                     The true morning is not when the sky turns gold but when you turn gold. When the first light of the day does not come from the horizon but from within you.           Your first waking thoughts change the emotional climate of the day within you. You awaken into a world built by the thoughts you choose. You begin your day with worry, the world becomes morose, dark and cloudy. You begin with gratitude and you invite summer into your life. So you get to decide whether you want to start your day with the blue light of your phone hitting your retina or the golden light of a beautiful sunrise caressing your skin. Will it be a good mourning or a good morning?           The weather may change at your window but the climate changes inside your mind. The weather on the outside may be stormy, grey, unpredictable and you do not have control over that. You do have a choice to allow the storm to rage in your inside world and for the hurricane on the outside to put your life in a never-ending swirl of anxiety. Or you can choose to regulate your inner weather. A rainy sky cannot touch a grateful heart. A dark morning cannot dim an inner sun. A tempest can’t change the temperature of calm. Don’t let a cloudy sky, a delayed text, a rude stranger or a chaotic world decide your mood. What you feel, you create.           The truth is that life is what you make of it. Your inner state is a sort of spiritual poetry where biology, creativity, psychology and consciousness work together. When you think different thoughts, your chemistry changes. Gratitude shifts your nervous system from fear to flow, and intention rewires your day before it even happens.           Yes, it is very tempting to blame the weather of life - circumstances, people, fate, karma - because then the responsibility of living a life on your terms without a victimhood story is on you. And that’s scary, very very scary. But your inner sunrise depends on attitude, not events. You can’t always control conditions, but you can always control your response.           Wake up with gratitude. Notice the hug of the quilt, the kiss of the pillow, the caress of the air conditioner on your face. Notice the beauty around you, the tiny joys, the fragile miracles. Let them feed you, like the sunlight feeds the leaves. Give no energy to fear, and what you don’t feed eventually dies.           The real sunrise is when you stop living from the mind and start living from awareness. One day the world will not brighten because the sun rose, it will brighten because you did.                       How does one create with God? Just duet.                     You: I feel lost, unloved, uncared for, abandoned by you. You sent me here to create but how do I create if no ideas are being sent to me by you? I feel like I have to do it all by myself.           Youniverse: Well, you do have to do it yourself but I clearly remember packing a ‘duet yourself’ kit in your spiritual backpack when you left the heavens for this short stint on earth.           You: Can’t find it. Where is this duet yourself kit?           Youniverse: In you. In the deepest part of you. That is where you create the life you want from. But to use this kit, you need to get into an intimate dance with me, become my voice as I sing a song through you, become my flute as I create the most beautiful melody through you, become my hands as I create the most stunning art through you, become my words as I create a relationship of pure love through you. Just ‘duet’ with me.           See, the duet yourself kit is like you are doing everything, but in reality, it’s me who is creating through you. You just have to have a strong intent to create, know your means to create, and then show up. And while it will seem like there is a lot of action happening by you, the truth is, there’s inaction in action. Inaction of the ego and action only by me through you. And as you allow this intimate salsa to happen between us, you will manifest me in this world as a song, an art, a software, a building, a relationship, a story, a joke, a composition, a recipe… anything that you want me to be.           Just surrender the outcome to me and make this act selfless. You can take all the credit if you want but is it really selfless then, is the question you need to ask.           You: So, basically, in this duet I do nothing? I am just your puppet?           Youniverse: Oh, that’s a cute way of looking at it. But yes, your role is to serve me so that I can serve you. Make your creation an offering to me, your higher self. Allow me to manifest myself through you. I sit in the deepest part of you. To manifest me, you have to meet me there by walking through the varied prisons of your conditioning, programming and the separate self that you’ve created.           You: So, I just do it?           Youniverse: Yes.
