A newsletter from Creativegarh to help you live a life of passion, purpose and meaning.

Surrender is not where life ends.
It’s where life starts.

We wind up for the day. As we lift our feet from the floor onto the bed, we reminisce about how our feet have always been running. For the next hit, the next million, the next job, the next car, the next award. And mostly running away from something. Is it ourselves?

As we wind up, we drop the mask that we have been wearing all day. The mask of pretense, personality, ego, anger at the world outside, the endless desire, the mask that hides our guilt, shame, regrets, rejections, and life choices. And we wear a face mask, to show ourselves and the world that everything is fine. But only on the outside.

As we wind up for the day, we put all that ties us to our unfulfilled lives on the bedside table. The keys to the car, the phone, the half read self book on how to take charge of your life.

We silence the mind and allow ourselves to be carried away into unconscious dreams.

But as we wake up the next morning, we are back to the chatter of our mind. We dress
up in a cloak of invincibility made of the fabric of our ego and pick up the chains from our side table.

From the dreams of freedom back into the dreams of what life could be, we move compulsively and unconsciously. We keep our worries in plain sight hoping that that is the only way they won't come true.

We try to control everything. Every thought, every relationship, every outcome. Not realising that what we are holding onto is in fact what is holding us back.

  Samarpan.

  Unconditional surrender.

  Let go.

The more we try to control the flow, the more we sink to the bottom of the endless river of self-doubt, self-pity and self-loathing.

Surrender. And have the faith that you are taken care of. And what is going has to go for that is the universal birthing process. One idea making place for the new.

Surrender. Of the 'bring it on', courageous kind, not the one that wallows in self pity and says, 'what's the point of all this'.

Surrender. To the co-creator of your life. Instead of feeling fear, feel love. Instead of giving up, give in to a force more powerful than you.

Surrender. Trusting that it's not the end of your life. But the beginning of it.

  Surrender. Let go. Relinquish.

  Nothing belongs to you. Nothing.

  mark

Nothing. Nothing belongs to you. The next minute, the next hour, or the next day. Nothing. The past doesn't belong to you. Not anymore. It could have been when it was the present, but not now.

Your ideas don't belong to you. They belong to the universe, which dropped them into your consciousness to nudge you to become a co-conspirator and co-creator. They came to you so you could be the gardener and nourish them, so they could be planted for the flowering of humanity in God’s garden here on Earth.

Your thoughts don't belong to you. Thoughts are the universe's way of bringing into your consciousness what it believes you are ready for. But you attach yourself to these thoughts. Then you use these thoughts to make decisions. When you attach outcomes to these decisions, they become goals. And goals then define your joys and sorrows.

Your business doesn't belong to you. Businesses have a purpose too: to exist at a time and place so they can help people live their purpose as coworkers, partners, customers, and shareholders. You have been chosen by the business to live your own purpose in the process.

Your diamonds, gold, and rubies do not belong to you. They are the riches of the planet, and eventually they'll go back to the planet. The only riches that belong to you are the precious jewels that lie within you, which you still haven't mined.

Your children don't belong to you. Khalil Gibran wrote, "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you." However, the gladness you feel in raising them belongs to you.

Your body doesn't belong to you. It belongs to Gaia - Mother Earth - and you wear it just for this one lifetime. You belong to the soil, your spirit belongs to the stars.

Even if it is on ‘your’ plot of land, the tree that you pluck the fruit from to nourish your body does not belong to you. You use the tree to feed you, and once you die, your body becomes its food.

The only thing that belongs to you is this present moment and how you choose to meet life. Your attitude in this moment belongs to you - either to hold your face in your hands and blame life and the circumstances, or to face the reality with unquestionable acceptance and pour yourself into this very moment to change your life. Your choices at this moment are the only things that belong to you. Make them from a space that nothing belongs to you, which means, you have nothing to lose.
