You pay by paying attention.                     Caught up in the busyness of our lives, our days and hours pass by in a blur. We do not remember the last meal we ate, the last conversation we had or the last time we stopped by, slowed down, and smelled the roses by the sidewalk.           Creativity and allowing yourself to create with the universe demands one thing of you. To be present and to notice everything in the world that has been created to inspire you to create. Every moment is an idea that can be plucked and put into your basket of creations. Every situation has been created for you to look up from your screen and look at the vast expanse of how big your life is meant to be.           How are you going to write a story with an afternoon scene when you have not paid attention to how the sunlight shifts across the walls from morning to evening. Or how the shadow of two lovers falls on the painting in relief work on the wall of the far side. When you are a perfumer, you have to pay attention to the smells and aromas in nature. As a furniture designer, how can you surrender to the process of creation when you've not paid attention to the size and texture of a banana leaf or seen it from the eyes and size of Thumbelina. Or how can you blow glass to recreate an exotic flower when you've seen the birds of paradise only in pictures. Or how can you write a poem on the everyday continuity of life if you haven't noticed the spin cycle of the washing machine joyfully punching the grime out of your linen.           The act of authentic creation asks of you to be fully engaged with life. Pay attention to the present. The snowflake on the nose, the bee in the hive, the egg in the egg nog, the texture in the whiskey sour, the condensation on the beer bottle, the hands of the watch, the lion paw on the legs of the table. Pay attention. Each of these are ideas waiting to be explored. And once you immerse yourself in the details of life around you, magical connections start happening.           The universe is always talking to you, trying to inspire you to come and create. Are you paying attention and listening?                 Creativity is a healer.                     Create.           Make art. Bake a muffin. Design a scarf. Weld a table. Draw a memory.           Knit a story. Weave a narrative. Sew a broken heart.           Strum a guitar. Play the drums. Write code.           Dabble with paint. Get your hands dirty. Write a poem.           Rewrite a story. Choreograph a song. Make new pictures.           Sing a new song. Write another book. Rustle up a salad.           Start a business. Give wings to an idea. Allow the ship to leave the shore.           Put your babies in the world. Put yourself out there. Put the limiting beliefs to rest.           Make a new melody. Teach a new trick. Make a new film.           Design a new dress. Dress up a new home. Tell a joke.           Love someone. Hug someone. Do something for someone.           Teach someone. Handhold someone. Guide someone.           What you show up and create from the core of your being, your love never leaves you, even if others do. Because everything that you create is a form of manifesting the divinity within you and putting in the world. When you reach into your being, into your authentic space, your Godspace, you help realise the potential of the divinity, the Godseed within you.
