Gyan with the wind. |
Everyone will have an opinion about how you should live your life. |
Everyone will give you relationship advice, personal brand advice, career advice, parenting advice, how to become an influencer advice, dating advice, dieting advice, investment advice, political advice, cricket advice, holiday advice, and advice on who's advice to take or not.
Don't let people tell you that you are not good enough, worthy or simply not enough. Even if you feel like that. Don't believe them.
On those dark gloomy mornings when you have no reason to jump out of bed, let no one tell you that you bring no value to the world, and you are better off sleeping with your woes tightly hugged by grief. Even if you feel the same, don't believe them or take their advice.
Don't believe them when they say that you are not worthy of being loved or loving, after you have gone through a heart-wrenching breakup.
When you are exhausted to the bone making a living and you still don't see a reason for going through the daily grind of regret, take no one's advice when they ask you to quit all this, find the right man and settle down.
When you are ready to put yourself out there in the world, don't go around taking the opinions of everyone for your work. Your creations may evoke in your readers, the pain of their own traumas. They will filter out the lines, ideas, and words you say because of their own blinkers and filters. They may not agree with your perspective, your taste, your sound, your thoughts, your magic, your feelings. They have learned to see life differently and it's not because of you.
Critics don't matter. Friends don't matter. Family doesn't matter. No one matters. Most of the time, the murderers of our self-worth are the ones who are the closest to us.
So, whom should you listen to, you ask? Only your calling, your intuition, your inner voice. Not your inner critic or even your inner circle. Listen to what others have to say but pay heed only to your inner voice. You are not obliged to take anyone's advice. If it doesn't talk to you or resonate with your inner being, throw the gyan away, throw caution to the wind and find joy and surprise.

A fulfilled life is a fully emptied life. |
Empty yourself. Empty yourself of every piece of gold, every ruby of talent, every diamond of skill, all the riches that have been buried deep inside you by the universe. Mine them one by one, as you thoroughly use yourself up in the service of the universe and find immense fulfilment in the process.

Blog, do yoga, paint, play cricket, design clothes, sculpt, dream, skydive, snorkel, bungee jump, sing, make films, make noodle namkeen, host a travel show, dance, surf, be a bartender, heal. And none of these have to become your identity. And none of these have to be something you have to be perfect at. Just do them because they give you immense joy. Become childlike. Become curious. Do it because you want to. And not everything has to make you a living. Some things just make you alive.
Do whatever it takes to empty yourself to that one day when you go back to the heavens, and God asks, what do you bring, say it with pride that you have come empty handed, empty minded, with an emptied life, emptied of identities, desires, expectations, longings, but with a heart full of love.
When you go deep inside yourself, you become empty. When you empty yourself, you stop feeling the emptiness. Use yourself to the point that you become totally empty, completely bereft of yourself, totally derobed of every identity, opinion, belief and attachment you have.
And as you are on this journey of emptying yourself, ask yourself if you are really willing to change. And wait for the answer. And if your answer is that the world needs to change but there’s nothing wrong with you, it's a sign to empty yourself more. Spring clean yourself. Take yourself to the cleaners. Dust yourself off your limiting thoughts about your own expanse. Hold yourself upside down, shake vigorously, and empty your pockets of beliefs and prejudices about yourself that have made home like useless cotton lint. Put yourself on tumble mode and then hang yourself out to dry and use an industrial grade steam iron to wrinkle out your own conditioning.
The day when you are totally empty, you'll realise you've made space for the divine to settle in. And that emptiness just makes space for joy and fulfilment.
