Life doesn't transform in the grandness
of life, but in the everydayness of it.

Life transformation is not this grand event in the heavens, a thunderclap in the kingdom of God, an event worthy of breaking news in the celestial realms, or a shift that creates a parallel universe.

Life transformation happens in the everydayness of life, in the little things we change in the minutiae of the fleeting present moments of our days.

Life transformation is not when one fine day suffering chooses not to knock on your door and you find happiness. It happens in the littleness of actions, of looking at yourself with love in the bathroom mirror and giving yourself the permission to be happy today. Life transforms in that moment for when every cell eavesdropping on your thoughts and feelings does a happy dance and amps the good work in your body on a double shift.

Life transforms when you bring order to a disarrayed life by doing one thing differently. By waking up an hour early and choosing to just be rather than getting into the hustle and bustle of making a living. Life transforms in the smallness of magic. In the warm smiles at the house help and the kind words to those who toil to mitigate the inconveniences in your life.

Life transformation is not an extraordinary, out-of-this-world event that happens at
a retreat in the Himalayas. It happens when you become aware of the repetitive pattern that runs your life and you take one itsy-bitsy baby step to change your response to the same beliefs on loop.

Life transforms in the awareness of guilt, envy, jealousy, victimhood, service of the ego, unnecessary competitiveness, and those unexplained triggers of anger. It happens when you simply observe yourself, becoming a sakshi - a witness of your life. Life transforms by being a seer and the seen.

Life transforms in the little acts of generosity, compassion, empathy, gratitude, and forgiveness. It happens when you consciously choose to have a better life for yourself irrespective of the trials and tribulations, grief and elation, depression or expression.

The most absolutely magnificent transformation happens in the privacy of your being,
when you have small wins in your dharmakshetra - the inner battlefield and not the kurukshetra - the outer arena.

A life transformation program.

You already know what to do,
you're just negotiating with comfort.

We are part of a divine dance — a divya nritya choreographed by God Himself, as part of a mega production called bhramand. We are all dancers, seemingly background performers in a colossal set, only to realise that we are the lead dancers in our own little dance of life, as the world does its own twirls and swirls around us.

In this dance of life, we take two steps forward, and even the three steps backward that we are forced to take are part of a dance routine that allows us to settle into our own rhythm. It surely upsets our practice, makes us question our training and our elegant pace, but then we simply accept it as an improvised act and get back into the sequence.

Sometimes, another dancer, to change their own dance, uninvitedly walks into
our dance sequence and flow of life. We are felled to the floor — a blow to our confidence and our ability to dance with others with elegant ease. We get up, dust ourselves off, and walk back onto our own playing field, but the taste of being hurt lingers on stage and shows in our tired movements. But there is nothing that a balm of forgiveness and a soak of the feet in a warm tub of letting go cannot solve. Tomorrow is a new cha-cha with life, and we are ready.

On some days, the dance is not effortless. Hit by the blows of desires, goals, and expectations, our feet drag, our hands flail, our movements are laboured, our joints unoiled, our feet heavy, our hearts hurt, our moonwalk dusty, our ballet inelegant, our pirouettes graceless, and our life looks like one big misstep in itself.

But then every step matters, even the missteps. Because in the larger scheme of things,
it is not important that you danced perfectly, but that you actively danced through life, allowing life to lead you onto every floor. The fact that you danced for an audience is not important; what matters is whether you danced in the most authentic and fearless way, as if no one were watching you.

Dancing through life means embracing spontaneity and joy in every moment and allowing the rhythm of your experiences to lead you. Like dance, let life flow. And let the intimacy of wanting to live a beautiful life come through in every step, forward or backward.
