A newsletter from Creativegarh to help you live a life of passion, purpose and meaning.

If today you can find absolutely nothing to be grateful for, try being grateful for everything you don’t have.

Life often becomes an inventory of what we have but what if is also an inventory of everything we have been spared. We usually practise gratitude by counting what is present - family, home, health, work, food, friendships, opportunities, but there is an invisible abundance in what is absent. Grace is not only everything life has given you. It is also everything life has not asked you to carry.

If today you can find absolutely nothing to be grateful for, try being grateful for everything you don’t have.

You don’t have a toothache keeping you awake tonight. You don’t have a fever. You don’t have a broken bone. You don’t have to think about every breath before taking it. You don’t have to sleep hungry.

Look inside your wardrobe not only at what you have, but at what you don’t have. You don’t have clothes soaked from walking through a flood. You don’t have the hospital gown you might have been wearing.

Walk into your kitchen. Look at what you don't have. There isn’t a feeding tube. There aren’t measuring cups because every gram of food has to be medically monitored. There aren’t medicines lined up beside every meal. There isn’t an empty shelf because you don’t know where tomorrow’s food will come from.

Walk into your bathroom. There may be no wheelchair parked outside the shower.
No medical equipment beside the basin. No instructions taped to the mirror telling you
how to dress a wound.

Look at your bedside. Notice what isn’t there. No oxygen cylinder. No pile of prescriptions.
No monitor keeping track of your heartbeat through the night. No photograph of someone whose side of the bed will never be slept in again.

Look through your phone. There are messages you don’t have. No message saying, please come to the hospital immediately. No missed call from the police. No evacuation warning.
No bank message saying everything has disappeared.

Look outside your front door. Perhaps there is no ambulance.
No flood. No fire engine. No soldier. No angry mob. No one coming to tell you that you can no longer live there.

Look inside your body. Notice what isn’t hurting. Your left elbow maybe. Your little toe. Your lungs as they quietly take another breath. Your heart doing its work silently.

And finally, look inside your life. Think about the addictions you don’t have, the accidents that didn’t happen, the terrible decisions you didn’t make, the diseases you weren’t diagnosed with, the people you didn’t lose, the wars you never had to fight, the disasters that you didn't have to face.

Gratitude isn’t only counting your blessings but also counting what is absent in your life.
Thank your life for everything that is here. And thank your life, maybe even more, for everything that isn’t.

So, today when you cannot think of anything to put into your gratitude entry, don’t stare desperately at the phone looking for something wonderful that happened. Notice what didn’t.

A life transformation program.

  Your presence is your present
to the universe.

Presence is not something you practise on a meditation mat for 20 minutes a day because you've been told that it is the right thing to do. Presence is a way of being. It is how you show up when no one is watching, how you listen when someone is speaking, how you breathe when the world is falling apart.

Presence is not about slowing down time but transcending time itself - when seconds, minutes and hours are nothing but a concept, a beautiful blur, a blip on the screen. When this very moment becomes a lifetime and your entire lifetime comes down to this very moment. Presence is not about chasing the next one but fully living in this one. Presence is when you can see the wise mountain and hear it whisper billions of years of wisdom through the wind. And you hear it. You just get it.

When you are truly present, you are not performing. You are not trying to prove, please, or perfect. You are not trying to recall who you were or plan who you should be. You are simply being. And in that beingness, your true self - your youness radiates.

In the absence of presence, there is disintegration. You exist everywhere but here - in notifications, memories, calendar invites, anxieties, and to-do lists. You scatter your attention so thin that even you can't find your way home. But when you anchor yourself to the now, every scattered piece of you returns home and integrates.

Authenticity cannot exist without presence. When you are present, you speak from the heart instead of the head. You respond instead of react. You create instead of compare. You do the work not to kill time but to transcend it. You work for wonder, not reward. You love deeply instead of performing love. Presence is the bridge between your soul and the world. It is what turns existence into essence.

The greatest gift you can give anyone - and to the universe itself - is not your perfection, your productivity, or your persona. It’s your presence. When you are present, you become a channel for creation itself. The universe creates and breathes through you.

Today, let your presence be your prayer. Let every moment you inhabit consciously become an offering. Don’t try to fix, finish, or figure out life - just be in it.

Because the moment you are truly present, the universe stops looking elsewhere. It looks right at you and smiles - because in your presence, it recognises itself.
